WEST Scholarships
British African Caribbean (BAC) heritage students will be the principal beneficiaries of the charity's work. Successful applicants to WEST will receive a scholarship grant of up to £1,000 per academic year depending on university costs and available funding. Each year we aim to support up to 50 high potential BAC heritage students.
Please note that the purpose of a grant is to:
1. Provide students with a source of funding, in addition to any other formal funding support which they receive, which will ensure that they:
Continue their education
Purchase appropriate education and learning resources which they would otherwise be unable/struggle to afford, or
Are able to meet their reasonable personal living costs.
2. Encourage prospective BAC heritage students who are considering taking a fulltime university-level course, who may be deterred from doing so because of financial concerns, or who may be deterred from studying at their preferred university because this is far from where they live and they cannot afford the additional costs associated with living away from home.
Applications for the academic year 2025/26 will open in April/May. Please contact us by email if you have any questions: info@wilkestrust.org.
Before applying, it is important to remember that the details you enter on the application form cannot be saved. It is therefore recommended that you prepare a copy beforehand should anything happen during the application process.
