Our mission
Wilkes Education Scholarship Trust (WEST) is committed to advancing the long-term life and employment opportunities for British African Caribbean heritage students, by offering scholarship grants to high potential BAC heritage students, particularly those from less well-off backgrounds seeking to undertake full time university level programmes of study.
Beneficiaries
British African Caribbean (BAC) heritage students are the principal beneficiaries of the charity’s work, since it was established in 2020. Successful applicants to WEST receive a scholarship grant of up to £1,000 per academic year depending on university costs and available funding. Each year we aim to support up to 100 high potential BAC heritage students. We are proud to have supported 4 cohorts of grant recipients who have now graduated, with a current cohort of 2024/25 recipients.

Help support us
Wilkes Education Scholarship Trust (WEST) is a registered charity and does not receive any government funding. We rely exclusively on the generosity of the public. Please help us to support Black African Caribbean students, many of whom will come from less well-off families and communities. We greatly accept all donations both from individuals and corporate entities alike. Please help support our very valuable work. If you would like to make a donation, please go to our Support Us page, or contact us at: supportus@wilkestrust.org. Thank you.
